Former lead singer and songwriter, Vince Lui, of Orange County’s Hoi Polloi has emerged back into the music scene with a fresh new sound. It will draw you in with its unique interweaving blend of SoCal reggae, blues rock, two tone rhythms, tribal and rhythmic beat grooves. The guitar riffs and hypnotic rhythms, along with powerful vocals carry memorable lyrical and instrumental melody hooks that captures the listener. Vince says, "We take these musical elements, and set a hypnotic groove with tone, mood and high energy. We also drive it home hard with an energetic and entertaining live stage performance.'“ You can hear some similar influences such as; 311, and The Police. Vince said, “He respects the musical direction these bands took in order to cut through the stereotypes and create and establish their own sound.”

Vince’s new project was formed in 2019 and was well received. He performed 13 live shows in that same year, with lofty ticket sales at venues such as; Garden Amp, The Tiki Bar, The Slide bar, plus TWO SOLD OUT shows at the House of Blues Anaheim, Foundation Room. He has previously performed as an opening and/or supporting act for; Sublime, The English Beat, General Public, Dramarama, Dread Zeppelin, Wild Child, The Untouchables, Pato Banton, Common Sense, HR of Bad Brains, and Steel Pulse.

In addition to performing live, Vince has been busy throughout 2020-21 recording new music and will be releasing a new (4) song EP entitled, “Heads on Fire” in the fall of 2021. The EP was produced by reggae guru Lewis Richards of 17th Street Recording Studio. Lewis has produced the likes of: Sublime with Rome, Dirty Heads, Slightly Stoopid, and Fortunate Youth. The mastering of the EP was completed by the legendary Brian “Big Bass” Gardner, whose resume speaks for itself, with artist such as: Eminem, Dr. Dre, No Doubt, Sublime with Rome, Dirty Heads, The Offspring, David Bowie, and the infamous, Michael Jackson. Vince says, “I’m so honored and humbled to have not only one, but two, well-respected, high level talented professionals in the industry, touching my music.”

Vince’s title track single from the EP, Heads on Fire, aired in August, 2020, on DIRTYRADIO / The Ska Parade Show with host Tazy Phillipz and received enormous support and success. The single was voted by radio listeners to the TOP 5 the first week and remained at #1 for a record breaking 18 consecutive weeks, previously held by The Bumpin Uglies in 2011. Impressively, by the end of 2020, Heads on Fire became the all-time #1 single on DIRTYRADIO/The Ska Parade Show.

Vince Lui’s return to the music scene has been met with interest, excitement and a growing OC fan base of all ages. His drive and passion for his music is compelling, but it’s his professionalism and respect of the industry, artists, fans, and venue’s that will keep him performing for many years to come.
